Carnivorous Plants/Drosera adelae and Drosera prolifera can they grow together

Question
Allexperts,

Hey I have a question whether or not  Drosera Adelae and Drosera Prolifera  can they grow together in the same pot?  If I were to put the these two in the same pot would they out compete one another?  In doing so would  kill the other one[ Drosera adelae or Drosera prolifera ]?  I have heard that Drosera adelae is very kind to surrounding plants in nature.  I have not heard anything Prolifera. Again thank you for time.

Sincerely,

Weylin

Answer
Yes, both plants are native to the same region in Queensland, Australia.  They grow in very similar habitats and have similar requirements for lighting, water and temperature.  Both would grow well side by side.

I've never planted these species together in the same pot, so I can't really say how they will interact.  It's doubtful, though, that one would choke off the other.  Of the two, prolifera might spread faster because it replicates via flower stalks.  Adelae replicates via root shoots, which tend to grow slower than flower stalks.  It's worth a try growing them together, but I imagine that once you have an established pot of both plants, you'll need to keep them together.  It would be very difficult, and messy, to pull them apart later in the future.

Good growing!

We no longer answer how-to questions (i.e. How do I propagate...?; How do I grow...?).

Instead, we help growers by diagnosing a specific plant problem and offering solutions (i.e. Why is my sundew not producing dew?; Is now a good time to divide my Sarracenia?; Why are the traps turning black?; What's a good substitute for perlite?; Why didn't my seeds germinate?; Can you identify this carnivorous plant for me?)
