Question
Hi! I have a pinguicula moranensis growing in a west window. I have just realized that it is beggining to produce it's winter leaves now. Is it normal for this to happen at this time of year? In december and early january it was growing fine and produceing large healthy leaves.
Hi Victor,
Very normal. I find that many of the Mexican Pings start going dormant in the late winter as opposed to early winter or fall like temperate plants. It probably coincides with a dry season in Mexico, so it's built into their biological clocks. Some varieties will keep growing if they are consistently damp, but others go dormant no matter what you do.
