Carnivorous Plants/Do i have to have cold nights and how many hours of sun

Which plant should i get i like house growing plants and a fast one that grows which will probably be the nepenthes miranda so my questions are: 1. how many hours of direct sun light do i need i know its about more then 3 hours but exactly how long 2. My day time temperatures are perfect for this plant but at night its not its pretty hot at night time cause im in WA perth so is it necessary to have cold nights

Hi Kevin,

Nepenthes x "Miranda" is a great choice for a houseplant if you have a big window for it.  They get quite large.  They don't really need much of a nighttime cool down.  They definitely prefer it warm.  The best locations in your area would be a West or North window.  4-5 hours sun is ideal.  Here's more information on growing Nepenthes:

No terrariums. No myths. No nonsense.
Just the straight facts from guys who grow and propagate

  • Why is my sundew not producing dew?
  • Is now a good time to divide my Sarracenia?
  • Why are the traps turning black?
  • What's a good substitute for perlite?
  • Why didn't my seeds germinate?
  • How do you deal with pests?
  • Can you identify this carnivorous plant for me?
