Experience
I have done research on the relationship between feline diet and feline diabetes due to my personal experience in dealing with one of my own cats. I am a pet lover and always have numerous cats and dogs. I believe in feeding a high quality and by-product free diet. Diet alone cured my diabetic cat as well as either cured or significantly helped many others.

Cat Food - urinary tract health

Expert: KC - 1/9/2009

Question
My cat had urinary tract crystals.  the vet says he need a food called cd what is the difference in this cat food and friskas urinary tract health food?

Answer
I don't recommend either Science Diet or Friskies, as they both contain potentially harmful by-products, fillers, etc.  It is recommended that cats who have had urinary problems be put on a low ash food and one that has lower phosphorous.  In my experience, cats who have been put on a truly premium food that is organic, by-product free, and contains human grade ingredients, is much less likely to have recurring urinary problems than those put on the Science Diet or other prescription diet.  The fillers and by-products in the 'cheap' and big name commercial foods contain so many additives that they can cause a whole range of problems.  Check out the Wellness and Nature's Variety brands of food.  They can be found or ordered by small local pet stores and ordered online through Only Natural Pet Store.  Unfortunately the huge chain stores don't carry them because they make more money by selling the huge commercial brands.
