Question I have 3 cats, one is a 2 yr old long hair cat who has loose stools. He has had it going on for months. All are fixed inside only. They get open feeding/dry, a mixture of weight control (Purina One)and reg IAMS healthy naturals. He is very healthy and active but a pound or 2 overweight. He is a large very strong densely muscled cat. His rectum, since the loose stools, is often dirty. He has a bit of trouble washing there because of his build its hard for him to reach. I know this makes him sound like a bowling ball but honestly he is just a very stocky cat. All are healthy. What should I feed him that the other cats can eat too that will solve this problem. He is a siamese mix and has no problem letting me know if his food is low. He is about as vocal as they come! I would Really like to keep the open feeding? Help!!
Thank You,
Julie
Answer Hi Julie - Well, if you continue to "Free feed" the little bowling ball will become a big bowling ball. Some cats just don't do well with free feeding. I wonder if he is just eating too much and that is why he has loose stools?
You can try giving him a Probiotic ( 1/2 a dosage of Acidophalus 1 billion cfu s per day for 2 weeks ) hide in some wet food: you can crush acidophalus .... It will help to balance out his bacteria/ good bacterias in his belly?
You could also just try giving him 1 teaspoon of NuVET plus Feline formula per day - Not sold in stores: this is safe and holistic..... http://www.nuvet.com/81098
YOU are looking for the NuVET feline powder -
You can continue to free feed and see if the Probiotic and NuVET help him with Digestion .....
