Question I took in a cat in Feb. He is almost 2 years old now. He was a stray outside for about 1 year. He has had a few fecal samples tested that were negative, and he has been de-wormed twice. I started him on Evo when I got him. He started to have diarrhea which progressively got worse. It became liquid and stinky. I talked to someone at a pet store and we figured the diet was too rich for him. I encorporated some food with grain by adding in some wellness. He still had loose and sometimes runny stool. I figured Evo was not working for him so I switched to wellness alone. He still had loose and sometimes runny stool. I figured maybe his body was so used to junk cat food. I put him on Royal Canin sensitive 33...and he has improved a lot. He still has occasional soft stool and it is never 100% formed and firm. I had used missing link hoping the fiber would help his digestion, but it didn't. I just started using prozyme to see if that helps. I'm wondering if there is an ingredient in particular that he might me intolerant to. I would love to have him on something natural and grain free because in the long run I think it would be better for him, but I don't know if his stomach could handle it. Any advice?
Answer Hi Erika, What a wonderful pet parent you are! Keep up the good work.
WET moist foods are the best for cats as they prevent kidney failure...very common these days in cats.
HOW about you continue offering the dry cat food every evening ...
In the am please offer some SoJo home cooking for your cat: you can make Up 4 days of the SoJo in advance.
Here is the link - free shipping in the USA- http://www.sojos.com/index.aspx?affiliate=petnurse
( you can also find SoJo in many pet stores)
You add your own fresh and lightly cooked meat to the SoJo mix.
Soooooo good for your cat kid!
