QUESTION: Our 8 year old cat has had loose stools and gas for over a year.  We have had him to the vet 3 times.  Forti-flora seems to help.  We give him that for 2 weeks and then he gets off it.  After a few weeks he starts hurting again.  Occassionally, he has a distressed meow from the pain. A feline specialist told our vet we should try low fat, high fiber canned food, but we aren't sure what brand that is.  Thanks so much, Lynn Ryan

Hello Lynn,  I am glad to see your have your cat on a probiotic... Good for you.
HOW about some home cooking for this kid???  It may help -
Try this for 2 weeks and see your results:

Cat Food Recipe- Feline Diet

•1 cup chopped cooked chicken
•1/2 cup cooked rice
•1/4 cup chopped carrot, cooked until tender
•Chicken broth
Process all ingredients in a food processor or blender with enough chicken broth to hold together.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. --------
Please make sure you use a good vitamin supplement each day;
We have many of our cat clients on the NuVET supplements.

The above recipe can be changed to ground hamburger 1 - 2 x per week..  YOU mostly want to use chicken for your cat.  Cat's don't need veggies - so, just try the carrot for now.
