Question
Dear Sal,

Do you know any good Catholic bibles that I can read. I have the NKJ New King James bible and I am tired of reading that bible I want to read a Catholic Bible do you have any suggestions?

I also have another question for you how can we catholics better observe lent?

Answer
Dear Jacqueline:

A good Catholic Bible that I like is the Revised Standard Version for Catholics (RSVCE). The New American Bible is the one used for Mass readings. The New King James Bible is a poor one for Catholics to read. I would avoid it. The NKJV is a Protestant Bible and, therefore,it is missing seven inspired Old Testament books. If it has footnotes they will be biased against the Catholic Church or at least exhibit a poor understanding of Scripture.

Catholics can better observe Lent by decorating their homes in purple, by praying or meditating more than usual, by going to Confession frequently, by offering sacrifices, and by receiving Holy Communion frequently.

God Bless You,
Sal

I love the Catholic Church and her book, the Bible. I will try to answer your questions with an emphasis on God*s Word. I believe the Catholic Church is the Church established by Jesus Christ for the salvation of the world. I can answer questions pertaining to the biblical basis for Catholic beliefs. I can also explain the beliefs of Jehovah*s Witnesses, Mormons, and Seventh Day Adventists as related to Catholic doctrine.
