Answer
Taylor,
Thanks for your question.  I believe there's a typo in the question, "Is the Catholic Church MORAL for banning contraception?" correct?  I'm teasing but am aghast by the assignment's falsehood in the title.

First, in your paper, please read and refer to Humane Vitae, available to you at this url address:
http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/paul_vi/encyclicals/documents/hf_p-vi_enc_2507...

Published on Aug. 6th, 1968 it explains clearly and concisely the Church's teaching on contraception.  It's a rich resource for you.

Here's the simplest way to put it: whenever a couple uses contraception, they are LYING to one another.  They have placed a barrier between what God bestowed upon man and woman, the power to pro-create.  They are holding back the consummation of the sexual act in a manner in which God never meant to occur.

How could the Church "be immoral" for banning contraception?   Those people who would make an argument for contraception because of "world population" worries have a baseless argument, and many go on to argue in support of Abortion as "pro-choice" -- choosing to murder the baby-child because of convenience.

If you want an alternative to contraception, investigate NFP or Natural Family Planning -- it works (my wife and I have been practicing NFP for over 16 years).
God bless,
Charlie
