Catholics/St. Michael the Archangel

Question
I am taking the name Michael after St. Michael the Archangel for Confirmation and my teacher wants me to write the virtues of St. Michael.  I am totally confused.  Is one virtue that he is a defender of God?  Thank you

Answer
Certainly that is true.  Michael remained loyal to God when Lucifer revolted against God and tempted him to join that revolt.  The Hebrew name Michael is, in Latin, Quis ut Deus? (Who Is Like God?). This is the reply that Michael is said to have made when tempted by Lucifer.  For further information, see www.traditio.com/cnf.htm and your traditional handmissal under September 29, the principal feastday of the Archangel.
