hi my husband and I wanted to baptist our two daughter as catholic I'm catholic but my husband is not, but we both agree that both our daughter will be baptist as catholics..The god parents that we have for both are not all catholics only two are and the rest are different religion but we really want this people to be their god parents because they are the only ones that we truely trust with our kids....Can you tell me what we need to do to have our kids baptist I've never done this before...Also we are planning on baptising our kids to the island that my husband and I grew up in so I already got a letter from the chruch here saying that we go to church here in california.And when we do go to the island that we want our kids to be baptist in the real godparents wont be there so i know that we will need proxy for the real god parents, do the proxy we use needs to be catholic too???Any help would be really great thank you..

Dear Maria:

It is great that you want to baptize your children Catholic. However, the Godparents must be Catholic because they would be responsible for raising your daughters in the Catholic faith should you die. I hope you can see that non-Catholic Godparents would not be able to perform this duty. You should speak to the priest here about what you want to do. Perhaps he can help you plan a proper Catholic baptism. I will pray for you and your daughters.
