Catholics/Mary Magdalene

Question
Hi, Mr. Schott(I apologize if I'm not addressing you correctly),
Was St. Mary Magdalene a prostitute or not? Is there a lot of debate on this point, or is it generally accepted that she was not one? Is that the Church's position, that she wasn't one, or is their position, as of 1969, merely neutral? Thank you, in advance, for clearing this up for me.

Answer
Hi Aron,

I'm afraid the answer is not definitive. It's a disputed question, and there's no official Church position. Different strands of tradition claim she was the "sinner" of Luke's gospel. Others say she was not. See
