Question
how many times is the word water uses in st john's gospel.. question that was asked at our class the other night ,, any comments on a easy way to learn sense of scripture.. I'm just a beginner at this. bless you annie

Answer
Since the Gospel of St. John comes to us in Greek, the English word "water" doesn't occur in it at all.  One must be careful about the kind of uninformed "Bible study" that goes on.  To learn a sense of Scripture, as you ask about, I can think of no better way that to study Biblical Greek.  It will broaden your perspective considerably and not leave you at the mercy of "translators," who, particularly in the last half century, have injected all kinds of bias and error into vernacular tongues, calling it "translation."  There are many Biblical Greek texts from which you can choose to learn.  Go to it!
