Question Dear George,
I live in UK and am a practicing Roman Catholic. I have a girlfriend who comes to Church with me but she has not been brought up in any religion. I was married in a Catholic Church and I am now divorced. My girlfriend was also married in a Church and she too is now divorced. We intend to get married next year. This will be a civil service but I would like to know would we be able to have the marriage blessed in my own Church. I do not feel comfortable asking my parish priest what may be a silly question and I do not want him to feel uncomfortable having to refuse me.
Answer Peace
dear John,
Sad, to say is simply No. You both would need a decree of Annulment from your diocesan office. In order to get one, you need to ask your pastor to start the process.
If you don't get the decree, you would be committing adultery and/or similar sins in the eyes of God and His Church. You would be able to attend Mass but not receive our Lord in the Sacrament.
