Question
Dear M.J WEST,

I for some reason feel called to three orders: Cistercian nuns, Benedictines, and Carmelites. I do not know which to choose. I feel more called to both Carmelites and Cistercians for some odd reason.

I am called to dress like St. Gertude. I understand Castilian language because that is what my family from Puerto Rico speaks. Do you know what Order dresses like St. Gertude? I also was told by Our lord and Our lady that my symbols will be:

Patron: Nuns; Catechist; Caribbean, learning, children, babies and Eucharist.

Symbols: Crown of thorns; Roses tulips and babies breath; taper; seven rings; heart with IHS; the heart of Mary and Christ, and Mary.

She wants me to draw a picture of me and what she wants the symbol to look like. What to do!!!!! I know how to draw and such but she also wants me to see the bishop it is so hard to get a hold of the bishop. What am I to do?

Answer
St. Gertrude was a Benedictine sister.  Alas, many Benedictine Women's orders today have become rather liberal (often to the point of heresy), so I'd urge caution when searching for them (though certainly, there are a few good orders out there.

If our lady has given you such orders, you do not need my help in completing them.  Just trust that the Grace of God will open any doors you will need.  You might try mailing the bishop what you need, or speak to your local priest, or call the chancery office of your diocese (most bishops have receptionists).

Hope that helps!
