Catholics/Confused on JW's
Expert: Sal - 7/16/2008
QuestionHello,
My question is,can someone tell me what the basic beliefs of Jehovah Witness's. I am dating this beautiful girl and have been for two years now. I am positve this is the woman for me. I am a catholic and believe VERY strongly in my religion. Yes I am a sinner and will admitt this with out hesitating. I am sorry for my sins but my sins are mine and there is no taking them back. She is a lutheran and is now in the process of becoming a Jehovahs Witness. We really love each other and I want to spend the rest of my life with her, but I do NOT agree with the few things I know about Jehovah's. From what very little knowledge I have on them I see them as a CULT!! I was wondering if you can give me a brief rundown of what the believe. I am not trying to prove her right or wrong I just want some answers. And I have never forced my catholic beliefs on her ever, and now all of a sudden I should be going to these meetings with her and jumping head first into a pool of what I kind of believe to be lies. I realize I am rambeling but I am angry with this whole situation at the moment and want a bystanders point of view.
Thanks,
Joshua
AnswerDear Joshua:
The JW's are very anti-Catholic so be aware of that as you attend their meetings. Some of their doctrines are:
1) The JW's are God only true followers all others are of Satan.
2) Jesus is an angel not God.
3) The Holy Spirit is only a power not God.
4) The New World Translation of the Bible is the only accurate translation.
5) There is no hell.
6) Jesus was not resurrected bodily, but as a spirit.
7) Jesus returned to earth in 1914 invisibly.
8) JW's do not show allegiance to any country. They will not say the Pledge of Allegiance of join the military.
9) One must work his way to salvation.
10) Only 144,000 (all JW's) will be in heaven all other righteous souls will inhabit athe new earth.
These are some of the doctrines of the JW's.
Let me know if I can be of further help.
God Bless You,
Sal
