Catholics/Last Rites

Question
What are the reasons you are refused communion and does that mean you are
ex-communicated? For example, I read politicians in the Phillipines were denied
communion because they were advocating condomn use in their community.
If you are not receiving communion, can you be denied last rites?

Answer
These are two different penalties, excommunication being the more severe.  Without contrition and a firm purpose of amendment, the Last Rites cannot be administered.  The Last Rites, in traditional Catholicism, include the Sacrament of Penance, Holy Viaticum, and Extreme Unction.  The New Order sect no longer has the traditional Catholic Sacraments, but substitutes instead a Novus Ordo "reconciliation" and a "blessing of the sick."
