what is eastern orthodox and what is the difference if you are cathlic like what would be the different traditions

The Eastern Orthodox are considered schismatic in not accepting the doctrine on the Roman pontificate and traditionally are in an excommunicated state since 1054.  Their teachings in some respects differ from Roman Catholicism.  Naturally, Catholics must avoid Eastern Orthodoxy.
