Question
My husband and i are seperated and he was awarded temporary custody of our eight week old son when i went into treatment for my substance abuse issues i was wondering if the church would allow him to get him christened with out me or my consent? I really want to be a part of that. Thank you

Answer
Nicole,

The Church under these circumstances would probably allow the baptism to take place; it would certainly not require your consent. But it seems to me there's a perfectly reasonable compromise here. Why can't the baptism wait until you are able to attend yourself? Or maybe it would possible to have the baptism near or at the place your are. Would either of those ideas work?
