Catholics/Fasting Meals

Question
How big are the small meals allowed on fast days, (I am trying not to go over board and my prodestant mother is urging liberalism.)

Answer
The size is not prescribed, but is relative, according to the individual's circumstances.  The basic principle is to take what one needs to sustain oneself, with three meals being permitted, one principal meal and two "collations" that would not exceed the main meal, with no solid food inbetween meals.
