Catholics/Secret of Mary

Question
Father, do you agree St. Louis DeMontfort's theology of never praying directly to Jesus, but instead praying to Jesus only through the Virgin Mary?

Answer
Christ is God; Mary is not.  The Saints, as creatures, may only be intercessors.  Moreover, such an opinion could be taken as contrary to many direct statements of Christ in Scripture about praying to the Father.  The prayers of the Church end:  "Per Dominum nostrum Iesum Christum, Filium tuum,"  not "Per Mariam."

Raising a creature, even Mary, to a divine level is idolatry.  Mary would agree.  See Luke 1:46-55.
