Question
I have read that we have a guardian angel. Why are they titled "guardian" It can't be for physical protection because catholics get hurt some times in their life?

Answer
Guardian refers to care and intercession.
I think that the primary focus is spiritual -- guardians of our spiritual welfare.
However, one could and would also think of the angel guardian as  caring for our physical welfare.
That someone gets hurt or dies does not argue against the thought of the angel protection.
In popular devotion, I recall some pictures of angels protecting children from physical dangers.
I hope these thoughts are of some help, Al.  You are always welcome to write again.
Best wishes.
