Question
Hi Fr. Michael, I know that it's obligatory to hear the Holy Mass every Sunday at least. But I've also heard that listening to the Holy Mass on Saturday evening is the same, is this true? And is it still applicable if you've got nothing to do on Sunday?
Thanks,
Kenneth

Answer
No, it is not true.  Saturday is the Jewish sabbath.  Sunday is the Christian celebration of the Resurrection.  Remember Acts 20:7/DRV:  "And on the first day of the week, when we were assembled to break bread."

The early Christians, since the Resurrection of the Lord was on the first day of the week, a Sunday, they began very early to meet for worship on the first day of the week and designated it as the Lord's day in place of the Jewish sabbath.  To observe Saturday instead of Sunday is to be a Jew, not a Christian.
