Question
My daughter's fiance was born into the Catholic faith on his mother's side. However, he was baptized by the Methodist church on his father's side. Since childhood,he is a practicing Catholic and has received all other sacraments. Will the Catholic Church recognize his baptism and allow them to be married in the Church, or, will he have to go through the Catholic RCIA process?  Thank you.

Answer
Melanie,
Thanks for your question.  I am also a convert from the Methodist Church to Catholicism.

When you say that he's received all the sacraments, does that mean he goes to Confession?  Did he go through 1st Communion and Confirmation?  Even if he did not, the bottom line will be the local priest where he plans to marry.

Yes, the Church will recognize his Baptism but whether he'll need or want to go through RCIA, is up to the local priest where he plans to marry.
God bless,
Charlie
