Catholics/Marriage during Advent

Question
Is there a definite rule on having a catholic marriage ceremony during Advent, or is it at the discretion of the parish?   I am recently engaged, and my current parish is being shut down this summer.  I am looking for a new parish and have already set a wedding date that occurs during the advent season.

Any advice at this point would be greatly appreciated - feeling a little helpless!

Answer
Traditionally, the Sacrament of Matrimony may not be "solemnized" during Advent or Lent.  That means that a Nuptial Mass may not be celebrated.  The simple Sacrament may be confirmed, however, and the traditional Nuptial Mass may be celebrated after the prohibited period is over.  Be sure that you are seeking a site where the fully-traditional Catholic Faith is practiced, and valid traditional Catholic Sacraments are conferred.  For a geographic list, see www.traditio.com/nat.htm.
