Question
My, son, Catholic is getting married to his fiance in her Methodist church. What must he do to have this marriage recognized by the Catholic Church also.

Answer
When a Catholic marries before a Protestant minister, he is traditionally considered to be excommunicated from the Catholic Church.  By his act, the Catholic is proclaiming that he renounces the Catholic Faith and accepts the legitimacy of a heretic sect.  Moreover, the marriage is considered invalid, and one cannot have "recognized" what is invalid.

You should recommend that if this Catholic wishes to remain so, he contact a traditional priest for guidance before he risks losing his soul.  There is a list of traditional priests at www.traditio.com/nat.htm.
