Catholics/going back to church

Question
I was baptized catholic and grew up catholic. As I got older I drifted away from the church. I got married and attended protestant church. However recently I have been attending catholic church regularly. I find that I believe what the catholic church teaches more and more as I get older.I would like to take communion. If I go to confession (I dread this) will I be able to take communion? Is there anything else I would need to do. I believe if I want to join a particular church I may have to go through RCIA classes.
Thank you for taking the time to answer.

Answer
Bob,
Thanks for your question.  I applaud your reverting back to the Faith.

Please do not dread Confession.  Yes, it's not easy but becoming "white all over" and forgiven is truly worth it, yes?  Let me give you a suggestion:

Go to www.lighthousecatholicmedia.org and do a search on Confession audio CD titles.  There's a very good one by Fr. Larry Richards, and they are very inexpensive (less than $4-5).

Technically, I think that you don't have to attend RCIA classes but they wouldn't hurt, right?   In addition, I'd highly recommend these audio CDs that you can listen to in your car while commuting, etc.

Again, kudos to you for going back to church.  Stay the course and great blessings will come to you.
God bless,
Charlie
