Catholics/Classical Philosophers

Question
Father, what about philosophers like Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, etc... are they good?

Answer
They are not, of course, Christian because they antedate Christ by four or five centuries.  However, they all, particularly Aristotle, have formed the basis of much Christian philosophy.  To the Universal Doctor, St. Thomas Aquinas, Aristotle was "The Philosopher."  Certainly Plato and Aristotle should form the basis of any study of western philosophy.
