Question
What kind of angel is Uriel? My niece named her son Uriel and I would like to know something about him. Someone said he was a warring angel? How come he is not mentioned with the other angels didn't he do anything significant? Thank you for the prompt and very thorough answer you gave me on the fig tree. I am impressed with your answers. Had problems w/my internet & could not give you the excellent rating you deserve. Don't know how to fix that.
God Bless you
Barbara

Answer
Dear Barbara:

The “archangel” Uriel only appears in the poem of John Milton, “Paradise Lost”, and in uninspired books such as 2 Edras and the Book of Enoch. The Bible is silent on this so-called angel. Uriel means “flame of God” or “fire of God” or something similar in Hebrew.
