Catholics/Glory Be

Question
Hi Sal,

The glory be says "...as it was in the beginning, is now, and every shall be, world without end."

What does this mean?

I read it as glory to the Triune God for ever, but there would have been an easier way to say that then .....world without end.

Thanks,

Robb

Answer
Dear Robb:

The Glory Be means that glory is the Father's, and the Son's, and the Holy Spirit's in the past, now, and forever. The English version is somewhat misleading because it translates the Greek and Latin "unto the ages of ages" with "world without end". In the original Greek as well as in the Latin the meaning is obviously "forever", but it's not so clear in the English.

I hope this helped.

God Bless You,
Sal
