Catholics/Why is it?
Expert: Sal - 7/6/2010
QuestionQUESTION: Why is it, that catholics so faithful to their church, believing that their church is the only true church, keep this great find, a secret?
Of the hundreds of catholics I've met, and know, I never hear them talking of this great truth they've found! What's the mystery?
When one finds their first love, don't they want to tell the world about this? Seems very strange that catholics don't really love those outside their church enough, or as Christ does, otherwise wouldn't they want their friends to know what they have?
Are they not able to share, that which they feel is the only way to salvation?
Even the Jehovah witnesses, and Mormons, publicly witness to what they believe they have..
What do I seem to be missing here?

ANSWER: Hello Earl:
The Catholics I know do not keep it a secret. The Catholic Church doesn't keep it a secret either. Catholics and the Church don't get in people's faces and shout, "We're the only Church founded by God Himself!" That wouldn't be helpful at all. So it's done in a less offensive way, but we do promote this great truth.
Have a great day,

QUESTION: They Do? I have found it very difficult to even get a catholic to talk about their faith, even in an offensive way? " You'll have to ask our priest about it, is the usual response. So just how do you see a catholic *promote* this great truth?
Using the first love analogy, it would be truly hard to keep from telling anyone who would listen about this first love one found, especially close friends, or family!
Thanx

ANSWER: Hello Earl:
I can't answer why the Catholics that you know don't like to talk about their faith. It may be that those Catholics have not taken the time to learn much about their faith consequently, they don't feel capable to share their faith. Therefore, they send you to their priest for answers. Your "first love analogy" is not very good because telling someone about a person that you love is not offensive, but telling someone that their faith is false is extremely offensive.

........................................................................
But Jesus did it! And you find telling someone about their faith being false, is offensive? I find your statement confusing in light of the question why it is catholics don't have enough love for those outside their faith to say something! Considering that those outside their faith may end up in hell, and what? They don't care? Jesus cared enough to tell those He came across, even though He knew they would hate him, and even put him to death for it!
Something isn't right in this picture you are painting for me, Sal.... Somehthing isn't right!!!!
Earl.
AnswerHi Earl:
As I said previously the Catholics I know do witness about their faith. The Catholic Church does let the world know that she is the Church founded by Christ. I was just trying to help you understand why some Catholics may not witness.
Have a Blessed Day,
Sal
