Catholics/Self Study Program

Question
Good Afternoon,

One of my long term goals is to get a PH.D in Biblical Theology from a Catholic school.  However, due to money issues, I cannot.

I am wanting to start a self study program, but lack knowledge of where to start.

Assuming I know nothing about biblical theology, can you recommend a list of books (easy books first) or a self study program I can use.

God Bless!
Travis

Answer
I am not sure at what level you consider yourself to be in regard to reading material.
If you would like to start with the Old Testament, I recommend a college-level book: Lawrence Boadt, Reading the Old Testament [New York: Paulist, 1984].
If that is appropriate for what you are interested, let me know and I can proceed from there.  If not appropriate, let me know whether it is too advance or how you find it.
I have been retired for some years and have not kept up with the latest publications.  However, the latest is not always the best.
Best wishes, Travis.  I look forward to hearing from you in the future.
