Question
When the Veil dividing the Holy of Holies, wherein dwelt the mercy seat, to which only the high priest once a year supplied the sacrifical blood for the atonement of the Israelites for the year, was rent in two from the top to the  bottom, when Jesus was sacrificed on calvarys cross, what did that signify?

Thanks

Many theories/ideas but I will share my favorite among the easier ones. The Jews of His day, saw the temple as supersize symbol of the universe. The "Holy of Holies" was Heaven on Earth. Because of sin, only God and the Angels could dwell in Heaven. The two angels that formed the "Mercy seat" stood of the Angels. God "sat" invisibly above them. So when the veil was split, it could be way God saying Man could now enter into Heaven, by following Christ the High Priest and the Lamb of God of our Salvation.
