Catholics/Homily or Sermon?

Question
what's the difference between a sermon and a homily?

Answer
"Sermon" is the traditional term for a set instruction on Scripture, some point of Catholic doctrine, or the like, when the Mass is paused after the chanting or recitation of the Holy Gospel.  "Homily" is essentially a New Order term, popularized after the Modernist Second Vatican Council (1962-1965), which tends in practice to be less structured and and more conversational in style, to accompany the equally less structured and vernacularized Protestantized New Order service, which replaced the Holy Mass in Newchurch since that time.
