Catholics/Agnostic

Question
I am agnaostic, I do believe that there is a god but don't believe in the fascist hypocrypital rules set out by all religious Holy novels. (I apoligies for my abruptness I have just left a heated debate). I am also English, not that should make a difference. When will we all realise that we only need religeon to feel like apart of the community and that there is only one God and he is the same lord/power/person/idea?

Answer
Hey, Pip --
Whoa, be easy on yourself.  You do believe there is a God, so ease up ... you're technically not an agnostic, per se.  OK, you have a challenge with established religions, like many people.  What's the origin of those beliefs?  School mates?  Parents?  Your own conclusion?
Take King Henry VIII, since you're English.  He decides that he wants to divorce (Anne Bolin?), and marry someone else, but the Catholic Church's teachings prohibit him.  The KING thinks that HE is bigger and better than God in deciding things, and that Pip, is a BIG problem.  But what does he do?  The King takes marriage, for eons a "covenant" and turns it into a "contract."   A contract can be broken; a convenant cannot be broken.  So what's been the aftermath in marriage and divorce rates?
I take it that you're a young person.  My advice would be to read more books, be slow to decide either way, but make sure you listen to your heart.  You may also notice different people coming into your life that help you move one way or the other ... but you can't stay in the middle, where you are right now.  BTW, I'm Catholic but was raised Protestant, so I see a lot of different perspectives both ways.  Let's keep talking, Pip...and yes, "there is only one Lord/Power/Jesus/Idea" and that's is a good thing, I promise you.  God didn't divide the church, man did.
Hope this helps...
Cheers,
Charlie
