Question
What is armageddon and the day of reckoning? Are they mentioned anywhere in the bible besides Revelation 16:16?

Answer
Patrick,

Let me quote to you from what the Oxford Companion to the Bible says: "A place name found only in Revelation 16:16, where it is identified as the 'Hebrew' name for the location where the kings of the earth will assemble to fight against God. . . . Although Armageddon appears only once in the Bible, it has become a familiar designation for the future final battle between the forces of good and evil."

In this context, "the day of reckoning" would be the day of the final victory of God over the forces of evil and his subsequent judgment.
