Catholics/Bible

QuestionThank you. By naturalistic, I mean that the notes will seem to call into question the divine inspiration of Scripture, such as by saying that the book of Daniel was written long after the events which it purported to prophecy, or that Jesus misquoted Scripture, or that certain recorded miracles were a mere literary device or were symbolic. Also, by the way, I think you need to revise your signature quote. It says "Our Queen Peter was his First". Some commas need to be inserted and re-arranged.

Question -
Which Bible do you recommend? I just don't mean the translation- I also mean which Bible would have the most orthodox, educational and edifying explanatory notes? I use the New American Bible (Catholic) and its notes and cross references are pretty good, but they're frequently a little naturalistic- meaning they explain certain Biblical events or statements as less than divinely inspired. I would like something with a lot of explanatory information but which respects the Bible as something divine.

Dear Johann
As of my last checking, the Vatican has approved the following translations for "liturgical and theology" in American English:
1.New American Bible (pre 1980's updates)
2.Jerusalem Bible (pre 1980's update, the update is often called "the New Jerusalem Bible"
3. Revised Standard Bible-Catholic Edition
for British English, you can add: The Knox Bible.
The approval for the above is for the text translation not the footnote notes. Footnotes are generally done by the publisher and are generally reviewed by the local bishop or someone he appoints for the task.
Can define what you mean by naturalistic, in your question.
For my own studies I usual various commentaries and similar aids, I will gladly send you some resource suggestions if you want.

Dear Johann
I kinda guessed what meant by naturalistic. I think a more proper term would be: Modernistic. The heresay Modernism was condemned in very strong terms by St Pius X in two documents and the popes since Vatican II have also addressed their errors in various ways as well. As a cardinal, Pope Benedict wrote a number of books that well exposed the errors of Modernism.
I will have write you again because I am at the library, I seemed to have lost the paper I wrote the names of resources I was going to suggest. Most are older books with authors whose names I can't spell.
Thanks for the possible "quote" correction. It should read as follows:
Line 1:Christ is Lord and Savior,
2:Mary is His Mother and our Queen
3:Peter was His First Vicar
4:Benedict XVI is His Current Vicar (God Bless Him)
