Catholics/Biblical Infallibility

Question
Is the Bible the infallible word of God?

Answer
Yes, but that doesn't really tell you anything if you don't understand what biblical infallibility means.  It certainly doesn't mean that every word is to be taken literally.  The authors themselves make this point clear.  It doesn't mean that information outside the spiritual purpose of Scripture is necessary correct (e.g., in a "scientific" way).

One needs to understand what the Bible is, what its contents are, what is purpose is, who its authors are, etc.  Unfortunately, most Catholics are pretty ignorant about these matters.  Even fundamentalist Christians, who respect the Bible, frequently misinterpret it, taking a very limited view and working through "word studies" of "translations."   Very dangerous!
