QuestionDear Sal,
Some people say that puerto ricans are from Shem Noahs son is that true? How did my culture end up on what it is today and who were my first ancestors because I always believed that yes I am West Indie but I think of my self as a Jew since I am christian and catholic. Being Puerto Rican is fun and all but where did my culture come from I know that my family told me we came from Tainos but I want to know if we go further back into Noahs or even Abrahams tribe or origin. Also many say that Canaan was black what is true here please help. Also is it a good thing to name your daughter or son from the bible like a biblical name because I have a few names that I really like and in the future use them Girls: Jerusha, Jacinta, and Eden then the boys: Josiah, Jezriah, or Zared! Are these hebrew names and if they are is it a good thing to name your children them. These are my favorite names I love them so much God had told me in my heart name your children with biblical names and I shall bless them and there generation. I just love these names its so hard to chose from because I have a limit on how many children I want to give birth too in the future not now I am going to wait till I am married and everything is settled. :-D
AnswerDear Jackie:
Shem's children are semities. I don't believe that that would include Puerto Ricans. I don't know for sure, but Canaanites are said to have descended from Ham. He is said to be the father of those of such places as Africa. So that is possible.
I think it is a good thing to name your children after biblical persons. However, I believe that it is even better to name them after Catholic saints! My children are named after the Blessed Mother, St. Maria Goretti, St. Catherine of Sienna, St. Mark, St. Michael the archangel, and St. Matthew.
The other questions you sent me are very long and involved. I will see if I can answer them.
God Bless,
Sal
