Catholics/Divine Mercy and Pope

Question
I read and spread the messages Saint Fastina recorded in her diary that Jesus told her. Is it wrong to spread these when they are not from the bible? Pope John Paul 2 did make her a Saint in 2000, but I was told by someone not to read her book because it was banned in the 1960's. So I didn't want to be reading false info but the book inspires me. Is it a safe book to read now that Sr. Fastina is a Saint? I always celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday as well

Answer
Michael, I am not conversant with St. Faustina.  So, I cannot help with specifics.
Generally speaking:  Private revelations are just that and as such are not part of the official teaching of the Church.  An investigation of a person's writings is made before canonization; if there were heresy there, sainthood would not be conferred.
Your parish priest or the chancery of your diocese may know of a source who could provide specific information about St. Faustina's writings.
Best wishes and thanks for writing.
