QuestionDear Sal,
Hello, happy memorial day week thank you for helping me with my questions and such you help me stay in my faith and in catholicism. Jesus only true church and all. I know that you arent a therapist I just needed to vent and for you to know waht I am going through I have such a hard time and stuff that I feel like I am going in circles half the time. I want to make my Divine Master Jesus Christ happy with what I am doing and for him to reward me in heaven. Any how thanks for taking your time to read this I very much appreciate this. I also have a question to ask you in ST. Pauls book to the romans and such I know that he is referring to that women should dress modestly and wear women clothing and men should wear mens clothing and not crossdress. What does he mean by that? Since I am a woman am I to dress in skirts and such and not mens wear? I dont get it lol I am so confused with this verse. And shouldnt the women of this time I mean all women not just catholic persay wear veils I mean Mary and Martha and Bethsheba did it in there times why cant we in our times I see Jewish and Islam even Indians doing it. Why cant american women and europeans and such do the same. To please God. I dont understand? I even have a question to ask one more okay :-D smiles lol okay I was seven at the time and I there was a thunderstorm but it was weird the sky looked like as if it was on fire. And the sun every one saw it not just me it was black as sackcloth and facing downward till this day I wonder if that was a biblical sign from God didnt he say that in any prophecy? It was in 1993 and I am still confused on what that was. I wonder if God was telling his faithful something. But the Moon I dont remember if it was acting odd too but I just remember the sun I mean it was black! Blacker then black!!! Do you know if it was a prophecy being shown to the world it was so odd and strange the news caught it on tape.
AnswerDear Jacqueline:
The passage that is used to forbid women from wearing pants is Deuteronomy 22:5 which reads, "A woman must not wear a man's clothing, nor a man wear a woman's clothing." This verse is probably referring to women not wearing a man's military armor. No one wore pants in that day. This is also Old Testament and it has no like statement in the New Testament. The key is modesty in dress as is taught in the New Testament (see St. Paul's first Letter to Bishop Timothy 2:9-10 & Pope Peter's first letter 3:2-5). One may wear a veil, but it is not required. I don't think that the women of Jesus' day actually wore veils. Nonetheless, if you would like to wear one please go ahead and wear one.
The sun turning black is found in Revelation 6:12. "I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair."
God Be With You,
Sal
