Question
Hello,

I have a question about the penitent thief, St. Dismas, to whom Our Lord promised paradise.

The Gospel of St. Mark seems to indicate that BOTH Gesmas and St. Dismas were blaspheming and cursing the Lord, while the Gospel of St. Luke says that St. Dismas rebuked his fellow thief.

"And they that were crucified with him reviled him."

(Mk 15:32)

"And one of those robbers who were hanged, blasphemed him, saying: If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. 40 But the other answering, rebuked him, saying: Neither dost thou fear God, seeing thou art condemned under the same condemnation?

41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this man hath done no evil. 42 And he said to Jesus: Lord, remember me when thou shalt come into thy kingdom. 43 And Jesus said to him: Amen I say to thee, this day thou shalt be with me in paradise. "

(Lk 23:39-43)

Given Scripture's inerrancy, there can be no contradition.  But I do not know how to reconcile the two.

Answer

dear M.J.

Perhaps, he repent after he heard the other directly blasphenmy against our Lord. I will review the passage abit more and if I discover something, I will write you again.
