Question
Hi umm I just had some questions over the Cathalic faith and the reason that I picked you is becouse your page said that your very polite and I dont want annother snobby answer. Any way I`m part of Seventh Day Adventist and I can't stop wondering why you guys do some of the stuff that you guys do when the Bible says clearly the opposite. Like for example the Sabath, it is writtin all over the bible that the seventh day should be kept Holly. Another thing is why do you eat un pure foods such as pork.

Answer
Thanks, Magdiel, for trusting that I would provide a polite answer.
Jesus respected the teachings of the Old Testament but also claimed the right to change some of its teachings.  For example, in Mt 5:17-48 Jesus amended the old law.  So, early Christians recognized that some Jewish practices and beliefs could change.
We see some early applications of Jesus' position in the book of Acts.  In 10:9-11:18 [note the length and repetition for emphasis], Peter learns from heaven that all food is clean.  The early Christians adopted Sunday as the special day of worship because of the resurrection of Jesus became known on that day.  For example, John 20:26, notes the gathering of the Twelve on that day.  In Acts, we read of Christians gathering on Sunday for the Eucharist; for example, 20:7-12.  So, for two thousand years that practice has continued.
I hope to have provided some insight to Catholic practices about which you inquired.  If you would like more, please feel free to write again.
Best wishes, Magdiel.
