Question
According to a traditional Catholic website, the library of Santa Maria sopra Santa Minerva in Rome has a letter from Martin Luther to his mother.  He replies to her question regarding whether she should become a Lutheran.  According to the website, Luther replies that he can neither betray nor deceive his mother and tells her to remain a Catholic.  I would love to see a copy of this letter, and think it would be of interest to many other Christians.  Do you have any idea how I could contact the library.

Thanks,

Les

Answer
Hi Les:

You got me with this one. I doubt such a letter exists. If it did I'm sure that it would have been used by the Church to show that even Luther himself new that he was wrong in leaving the Church. I have never heard of it before in all my reading. It stands to reason that I would have come across it before if it existed.

Sorry that I can't be of any real help this time.

God Bless You, Sal
