Question
What are the major problems confronting the major world religions ?

That is an interesting question. I would say the following strongly confront Catholicism for sure and others to some degree:
1. Fundamentalism
2. Modernism
3. False Ecumenicalism and Inter-Faith exchange
4. Organized Atheism
5. false science or bad science (not the same things)
