What is Martin Luther belifes and how did it affect the catholic church when he seperated from the church?

Martin Luther held many beliefs in common with the Catholic Church. He also held some strange never before heard of beliefs which is condemned by Holy Scripture. "For even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel not in accord with the one we delivered to you, let a curse be upon him!" (Galatians 1:8). So all late inventions of men are not to be accepted. Luther came up with the idea that one was saved by faith alone-never before heard of, as well as unbiblical. He also developed the idea that one could read the Bible by oneself, that is without any scholarship, and be assured of a right interpretation! Such nonesense caused much destruction of good Christianity. The Church responded with the Council of Trent which clarified many disputed beliefs. This Council also addressed the problem of lax morals among both the clergy and the lay people. So in brief, Luther cause much destruction concerning christian unity, but he did highlight the need for better moral standards. He also has shown that we do need a Church magisterium to guide people in Christian living.
