Hi Charlie, my roommate is protestant, and she allows her children to decide what protestant religion they want to be, the youngest comes with me to mass at times, i of course am trying to influence her in the right direction. My roommate, was protestant, then she converted to Catholicism for her oldest daughter because she sent her to a catholic school, but she is now back to practicing Protestantism. As a former protestant what was it that convinced you that Catholicism is the true faith?and how in the world do you convince the protestants that there is a purgatory? Any advice you can give to me to help her understand that Catholicism is the one and only true faith that was founded by Jesus Christ. Thank you for your time.

Thanks for your question.  Two things drove my conversion more than anything else: my wife of then, 11 years and two books: The Final Hour by Michael Brown and The Thunder of Justice.  Now, I wouldn't per se suggest to your Protestant friends to read those books -- they're not for the faint of heart, or strength of fundamental belief. If they are open to hearing about Fatima, Medgejorge, Lourdes, etc. then they might benefit from it ... but in my experience, most Protestants don't know Mary and think we give her equal worship to Jesus, which is not true.  BUT, our mother is calling us....

Instead, here's what I'd recommend:  go to www.lighthousecatholicmedia.com.  It's a super-site, only two years old and a spinoff from an organization you may be familiar: St. Joseph's Communications.

When you go to the site, look up Apologetics and/or look for the CD from a FAther Callaway -- an amazing story of gangs, Japanese mafia to becoming a priest!  Teens love it, and I get a lot of positive feedback about his story.
