Question
I was raised by a Catholic mother and non-Catholic Father but attend Catholic church with my Mother.  Due to disagreements about religion I was never baptized.  About 5 years ago I was married in a Baptist Church.  Currently I have two small children and I am getting a legal divorce from this man.  I would like for myself and my children to be baptized Catholic.  So, the questions.  Since I was not Baptized Catholic and not married in the Catholic Church would the marriage be recognized by the church, requiring an annulment?

Answer
I commend you for wanting to receive Baptism and also for your children.
I am not a moral theologian or a canon lawyer.  So I recommend that your question about the validity of your marriage be asked of the priest whom you contact in regard to Baptism.  Beyond the place of a marriage, there are other factors that affect the validity of a marriage.

Best wishes, Tracy.
