QuestionWhat does it take to go to heaven?
AnswerWe need to remain in the state of sanctifying Grace, and to be found therein on the Day of our Visitation (when we go to meet God).
When Adam and Eve fell into sin, thus casting all of us their descendants into their sin, we cannot attain Heaven without the Graces of God, both to empower us to live as God directs, and also to forgive us for where we fail.
God provides us with much to help us, where we cannot help ourselves. First and foremost is Himself, Jesus Christ, who died on the Cross to pay for our sins, and who also founded the Church upon the rock of Peter.
That Church serves to continue Christ's presence in the world to this day and to the end of the world. That is why we must live as God directs (and in these days of confusion when everyone makes up their own rule of faith, one needs an objective and unchanging rule of faith which is exactly one and the same as that provided by Christ. That Church tells and provides all we need to attain Heaven, if only we so choose.
The guidance is actually rather simple. There are Ten Commandments which still apply today, the Church also provides seven Sacraments to empower us to obey the commandments even where we would otherwise be too weak to do so ourselves.
The Commandments tell us how to live, and the Sacraments help us to live by those commandments, and also to be forgiven for when we don't, in short convey that sanctifying Grace of God in which we must remain.
I hope this helps, God bless!
