Question
I'm writing an essay on water as religious symbolism in Austrian folktales and just wondered if all churches, chapel, cathederals (and other places for christian and/or catholic worship) had holy water present or do only some have it?

Answer

Dear Sebastian Knight--

Most Catholic places of worship(chapels, churchs & ect)have a least one water fount of some kind at enterances to worship area. Some Catholics even have small ones in homes.

Below is link to pics of some:

Holy water used in such manner is to bless ourselves as we recall the graces of Baptism and our personal call to holiness in Christ.

As for other christian communities it depends on what their doctrine and practices are in relation to baptism.
